• Probably the biggest story of the day: The search for Ernie Accorsi’s successor is on, reports Paul Schwartz.  The four leading in-house candidates are: Kevin Abrams, the Giants cap specialist and Assistant GM; Jerry Reese, Director of Player Personnel, who oversees the drafting of college players; Dave Gettleman, Director of Pro Personnel, which means he oversees the signing of pro free agents; and Chris Mara, grandson of Wellington and Vice President of Player Evaluation.  All these titles!
  • Even before the concussion, Shockey was acting a bit unhinged, Arthur Staple blogs.  I say this is good — Shockey’s wildman antics fire this team up.
  • Interesting thoughts on the Cowboys by the guys at Giants 101.  As Steve Sormani points out, even with T.O., the ‘Boys O-Line needs to improve on their 52 sacks allowed and league-leading 28 holding penalties.
  • John Branch on Chase Blackburn’s comeback from a “neck strain,” which is apparently an umbrella term for “five herniated disks, two bulging disks, and two pinched nerves in his neck.”
  • John Branch on the Giants’ stable of DTs.  Clancy was good, but the Giants made the right decision not to kill cap space on him.
  • I’m not too interested in this ongoing story about Plaxico not attending his post-season meeting with Coughlin, or about those guys who worked out at Miami and not in New York with Eli.  To me, it’s a non-story that will very quickly be forgotten about once there’s real football news.  At any rate, here’s Ohm Youngmisuk about Plaxico wanting Coughlin to loosen up.
  • Let’s hope Tim Carter stays healthy.  Arthur Staple’s article also reports that Sinorice Moss strained his quad, and will miss a day or two of practice.  With Carter and Moss pushing each other though, we should have an outstanding number three receiver, and maybe be able to weather the loss of a starter for a period.
