EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Fullback Vonta Leach says the New York Giants have expressed an interest in him.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver LaVon Brazill has been suspended for the first four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, the NFL announced on Monday. Which substance triggered the positive result was not disclosed, per league policy. Brazill, a 2012 sixth-round pick, will be eligible for reinstatement on Sept. 30 and will forfeit $112,942 in base salary. The Colts could also seek to recoup the prorated portion of Brazill's signing bonus for the four games he is suspended, an amount that totals $4,628. In 15 games as a rookie, Brazill caught 11 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown while playing in 17.62 percent of the offensive snaps, according to official NFL playing-time records. Brazill played in 38.4 percent of the Colts' special teams snaps, totaling four tackles and gaining 62 yards on kick (50) and punt (12) returns. Brazill enters training camp behind Reggie Wayne, Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton on the depth chart and is expected to compete with Nathan Palmer for the No. 4 receiver role. Conventional wisdom suggests that a four-game suspension hurts Brazill's chances of sticking with the club, but the team is unlikely to make a decision on him until his four-game ban comes to an end as injuries at the position could make him a valuable asset when he regains eligibility for the final 12 games of the season. Brazill responded to the news of his suspension on Twitter . "Minor setback for a major comeback," Brazill wrote. "Still got a smile on my face. It's In da past movin forward. Only god can judge me."
