NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Drew Brees made his latest claim to the moniker of Mr. Monday Night.
Seattle's Week 4 win was impressive. To pitch a second-half shutout, come back from a 20-3 halftime deficit and beat a very good team like Houston shows the Seahawks can thrive in adverse conditions. It's hard to win a Super Bowl without winning some of those games. The Broncos are avoiding that situation by blowing everyone out. It's rare to see a NFL team steamroll through most of its schedule. The 2007 Patriots were the most dominant team of the past 20 years or so, and the Broncos have that same look through the first month. It's not easy to blow out a NFL team, and Denver has done it four times in a row. That's the reason the Broncos move up one spot to the top of the power rankings this week. The Broncos' schedule hasn't been too rough so far, but that will be a theme for them this season. Looking at the Broncos schedule , it's very easy to see them going into a game at New England on Nov. 24 still undefeated. Seattle isn't far behind Denver. If someone can get the Broncos into a competitive game, we'll see if they handle adversity as well as the Seahawks have this season. However, that moment might not happen for a while. Here are the rest of the power rankings:
The Bears lost to one of the only two teams on their 2013 schedule currently with a winning record, the co-3-1 Detroit Lions. They get the other one next Sunday when the 4-0 New Orleans Saints come to Soldier Field. As if they didn’t have enough trouble keeping the Lions out of the end zone, their defensive situation just became even more dire with Drew Brees throwing for more than 400 yards in New Orleans’ win over previously undefeated Miami on Monday Night Football. ...
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Being 0-4 for the second time in his coaching career hasn't cost Tom Coughlin his sense of humor.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Geno Smith walked up to his teammates on the New York Jets' defense after another turnover-filled performance and said he was sorry.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The memories of last season are already fuzzy for the Kansas City Chiefs, who tried to purge just about every one of them from their minds over a long, difficult offseason.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- The New York Giants have gone into survival mode after their worst start since the 1987 strike season.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Peyton Manning dismantled the defense. The offense made too many mistakes. Special teams allowed two touchdowns.
COMMENTARY | It's not a dream or a season on Madden NFL 25. The Cleveland Browns are a real life first place football team at the start of October, and those preseason prediction pieces that had the Browns finishing the season at or around .500 don't look all that bad anymore.
NFL quarterbacks can be broken into three groups: elite, good and ''can we find somebody else?''
