Pele says the New York Giants invited him to be a kicker after retiring from soccer with the Cosmos. The 73-year-old Pele said in an interview with ESPN Brasil in New York that kicking was ''wasn't too hard for him,'' but he didn't want to return to sports after a long soccer career. Pele led Brazil to three World Cup titles and scored more than 1,000 goals.
Marshawn Lynch returned to being a full participant in practice on Thursday as the Seattle Seahawks had their second workout of Super Bowl week. He was a full participant on Thursday as the Seahawks were as healthy as they have been all season just a few days before facing Denver. Percy Harvin, Doug Baldwin and Brandon Mebane were all full participants as well. Seattle took the field around 4:30 p.m. and went for 90 minutes at the New York Giants' indoor practice facility.
Jan 30 (The Sports Xchange) - San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did not hold back in several interviews on Thursday, sending some harsh words to Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. Kaepernick had been relatively quiet since he threw a game-ending interception in the NFC Championship Game, which was followed by Sherman making a choke sign in Kaepernick's direction and then delivering the postgame interview rant. Because I'm not worried about you," Kaepernick told Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post. Kaepernick, speaking with ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike," added, "To me, it was ridiculous.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- A sports memorabilia collector in New Jersey is accusing members of the NFL's New York Giants of engaging in a scam to sell fake ''game-worn'' equipment for profit.

By Julian Linden NEW YORK (Reuters) - The first Super Bowl in the New York metropolitan area is days away and now everybody wants in on the action. The National Football League (NFL) took a gamble when it went against convention and decided to stage the game at an outdoor stadium in nearby New Jersey during the winter. But with weather forecasts for the game getting better by the day, America's biggest city is warming to the prospect of a classic encounter between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. As Peyton Manning, the Broncos quarterback whose deadpan delivery can be as sharp as his passes, dryly noted: "The Super Bowl is a big deal." No player has been under more scrutiny in the build-up to Sunday's title game than Manning.

Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker thought he was going to attend an NBA game on Tuesday prior to Super Bowl XLVIII. Instead, Welker ended up being a videobombed, and it is hard not to laugh. Welker attended the New York Knicks’ home game against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Hey, you cannot blame the guy for wanting to get out of his hotel and witness a game at Madison Square Garden. Friday Night Tykes can wait, right? As Welker was shown on the jumbotron, a man sitting behind the receiver began mocking him. The unknown person repeatedly acted like he was dropping a pass and threw up the choke sign. It was seemingly a tribute to Welker dropping a clutch pass from New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Welker’s former team was eventually defeated by New York. Welker, do not feel bad. That is probably a better reaction than Eli Manning receives from most Giants fans. Want to watch the Big Game ads? COMMENTARY | Michael Strahan is a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2014 and whether Warren Sapp likes it or not (we know Sapp most definitely does not like it) Strahan deserves enshrinement this time around. Strahan was a finalist last year in his first year of eligibility for the Hall, but was snubbed while Sapp -- also a first-time nominee, was selected. I did not understand why Hall of Fame voters dissed Strahan a year ago when they elected Sapp, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle, along with Bill Parcells, Larry Allen, Cris Carter, Curley Culp, Jonathan Ogden and Dave Robinson.
