Evan Silva breaks down the Matchups for every fantasy-relevant player in every Week 8 game.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- The New York Giants have signed linebacker James Morris off their practice squad and waived cornerback Brandon McGee.
Two balls launched over the wall, one fired over an opponent's head and just like that, David Wright and the New York Mets are right back in this World Series. Wright homered and drove in four runs, Curtis Granderson also connected and rookie Noah Syndergaard set a nasty tone at the start of a 9-3 victory against the Kansas City Royals that trimmed New York's deficit to 2-1. Syndergaard's first pitch was a 97 mph fastball just off the inside corner and way over Alcides Escobar's head, eliciting a huge cheer from fans.
We've known for years that Carolina Panthers inside linebacker Luke Kuechly is a big-time difference maker (as is fellow linebacker Thomas Davis), and one play against the Philadelphia Eagles summed up how hard he can make things for an opposing offense. The Philadelphia Eagles tried an outside sweep with Ryan Mathews in the first quarter. Kuechly showed off his excellent play recognition at the snap. Kuechly moved at the same time as Eagles center Jason Kelce started to pull. Then Kuechly maintained his balance and control as he was pushed from behind by another Eagles lineman. Kuechly stayed up, beat the block by Kelce and made the tackle. It's an outstanding play.
If Dez Bryant finally returns Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys - far from a certainty - he'll be picking a difficult weekend to do so. Bryant practiced for the first time in almost seven weeks Wednesday, but he's listed as questionable. Bryant hasn't played since suffering a broken right foot in the Sept. 20 opener against the New York Giants.
Dez Bryant says he wants to be smart about his return from a broken right foot, and knows that means including Dallas team doctors, trainers and coaches in the process. Bryant was listed as questionable for the Seattle game Sunday, which will be seven weeks since he was injured in the opener against the New York Giants. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said the bone needed six weeks to heal, and there hasn't been a direct answer to the question of whether it is fully healed.
Even as his hand was being shredded by fireworks, Jason Pierre-Paul says he wasn't frightened. ''I wasn't worried at all,'' the Giants star defensive end said. In his first comments since the mishap, Pierre-Paul on Friday left unanswered many questions, but he recalled his time in a Florida hospital with a mangled hand and burns covering his arm.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Former Dallas Cowboys running back Dennis Morgan has died after suffering an apparent heart attack in the stands while watching his former team play the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
