The Atlanta Falcons' cozy playoff position vanished almost as quickly as the Minnesota Vikings' chance at a snug spot atop their division. While the short-handed Falcons look to regroup from a trio of losses that have put their playoff chances in jeopardy on Sunday, the visiting Vikings will try to reignite their bid for the NFC North. Minnesota (7-3) grabbed sole possession of first place with five straight wins and three consecutive Green Bay losses.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig sustained a swollen eye and facial bruises during a fight with a bouncer. Miami police spokesman Major Delrish Moss said the injuries happened Wednesday night as the Cuban slugger was leaving the Blue Martini bar at bouncers' request following an argument with his sister. Major League Baseball plans to investigate, making Puig the second player subject to potential discipline under the sport's new domestic violence policy.
Panthers defensive tackle Dwan Edwards admitted Monday in the back of his mind he's thought about Carolina's chances of going 16-0 in the regular season this year. The Panthers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 33-14 on Thanksgiving to improve to 11-0. Carolina finishes the season with two games against Atlanta and one each against New Orleans, the New York Giants and Tampa Bay.
Tony Romo knew he was risking another left collarbone injury by coming back eight weeks after breaking it. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said on his radio show Friday that Romo would sit out the remaining five games with a small fracture in the same collarbone that had already sidelined him for seven games. ''The hard part is playing when you're trying not to get hurt, which is silly,'' Romo said after he threw three interceptions and Carolina returned two of them for touchdowns before the injury.

Whatever faint hopes the Dallas Cowboys might have had for a playoff run vanished in a teal fog on Thanksgiving afternoon, as the Carolina Panthers manhandled the Cowboys 33-14. Ladling insult atop injury like gravy atop stuffing, the Cowboys lost Tony Romo on a sack that re-injured the same left clavicle that kept Romo out of seven consecutive games. The Cowboys took Romo for an immediate X-ray, and soon afterward, ESPN's Ed Werder reported the grim news: While X-rays on Tony Romo collarbone inconclusive and more tests scheduled tomorrow, a source told me the QB is "done for the season." — Ed Werder (@Edwerderespn) November 27, 2015 This is awful for anyone who has tickets to a Cowboys home game or has a Cowboys receiver on their fantasy roster for the remainder of the year, but the truth is, this team was already toast. A pristine Romo couldn't lead this team back to the playoffs this season. Between this and the Eagles' implosion, the way is clear for an unlikely playoff run from either the New York Giants or Washington Redskins. Matt Cassel will likely now hold the starting job for the remainder of the season for Dallas. Cassel led the Cowboys to a late touchdown after Romo's injury, but by that point the Panthers already had one eye on the turkey. The Cowboys, by contrast, can turn at least one eye to the offseason ... and the other to 2016. PODCAST: Are officials biased against the Redskins because of the team's name? Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was demoted to third string this week after he lied to the team about when a video of him partying was recorded, according to multiple reports Thursday. Manziel, who spent three months in a rehab facility he entered voluntarily in January, can be seen drinking champagne and in a general party atmosphere in photos and video published online Monday. The video shows Manziel singing while holding what appeared to be a champagne bottle at a club in Austin, Texas, during the team's bye week -- six days after he was given the starting job.
