Denver coach Gary Kubiak says that in his 32 years in the NFL he's never seen this much depth or deftness at wide receiver. ''I've said from day one: that really has the chance to be the strength of our team,'' Kubiak said Sunday. Last year, there were Pro Bowlers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and not much else, as those two pass catchers accounted for 80 percent of the team's production at wide receiver.
For a couple of minutes, it seemed the injury bug had gotten the New York Giants again. All eyes and hands were focused on his left ankle and foot that had been stepped on by cornerback Janoris Jenkins on a pass play. Beckham would eventually limp to the sideline and then leave the indoor practice field a couple of minutes later on a cart to have the foot examined.
So which is the less reliable narrator — Donald Trump or the NFL? It’s a fascinating debate to consider when you hear this story. Presidential candidate Donald Trump says the NFL wrote him a letter about the debate dates, which the league denies (AP).

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he doesn't like going up against NFL games when he debates Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton this fall and that the football league complained to him about the debate schedule in a letter. A spokesman for the NFL says the football league didn't send a letter to Trump as the billionaire businessman claims. In an interview with ABC's Sunday show ''This Week,'' Trump was asked if he would accept the commission's schedule.
Chargers coach Mike McCoy caught himself while talking about the opening practice of training camp. ''It sure is nice to get back on the field with everybody and get all 90 guys - or 89, I should say - out here practicing,'' McCoy said Saturday. The one missing, of course, is first-round draft pick Joey Bosa.
It's only a couple of days into the New York Giants training camp and one thing is sticking out. New coach Ben McAdoo isn't going to be limited by the belief that rookies need time to adjust to the NFL before playing. Cornerback Eli Apple, receiver Sterling Shepard and safety Darian Thompson - the team's first, second and third-round draft picks, respectively, - were working with the first-team units Saturday as the Giants held their first outdoor practice since reporting to training camp.
HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -- A former New York Giants player who assaulted his estranged wife at their New Jersey home has been sentenced to one year of probation.
Peyton Manning's legacy lives on at Denver Broncos headquarters, the latest example coming Friday when second-year wide receiver Jordan Taylor made a ridiculous Odell Beckham Jr.-esque one-handed catch . Taylor is a second-year pro who went from practice squad player to Manning's personal workout partner last season when the quarterback was recovering from a foot injury. Taylor was tightly covered by cornerback Taurean Nixon when he spun around and stretched his 6-foot-5 frame, grabbed Mark Sanchez's 45-yard throw with his right hand and held on as he somersaulted out of bounds.
The New York Giants have signed defensive tackles Jermelle Cudjo and Davon Coleman. The Giants announced the moves on Friday, a day after placing defensive tackles Damon Harrison (knee) and Jay Bromley (ankle) on the physically unable to perform list. To make room on the roster, New York waived receiver Donte Foster and defensive tackle Melvin Lewis, who was on the active/non-football injury list.
