For all of Dan Quinn's background as a defensive specialist, the Atlanta Falcons' second-year coach is fielding an offense about as good as anyone right now. Matt Ryan has been efficient. Running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are wearing down defenses while keeping one another fresh.

Former Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested Sunday in Richardson, Texas, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Hardy was stopped by Richardson police for a traffic violation and was arrested when 0.7 grams of cocaine were discovered in a wallet in the car, NBCDFW.com reported. The officer who pulled over Hardy asked for permission to search the car and received it, according to the police report.
It’s a fine line, and New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham has found himself on the wrong side of it. On Sunday, his emotions got the best of him in his rematch against Norman, who is now with the Washington Redskins. Everyone laughed at Beckham losing his battle against the kicking net, but the Giants weren’t impressed.
Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson avoided serious injury but might miss a game for the first time in his career with a sprained knee, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the day after Wilson limped to the sideline during a Week 3 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Carroll said on his Monday morning radio show that Wilson was diagnosed with a sprained MCL during an MRI exam. Carroll said it turned out "exceedingly well" after Wilson treated the injury overnight.
As coach Mike McCarthy excused his players late Monday afternoon for the start of their bye week, sentiments about having the break so soon on their schedule were mixed. The passing game appears to be on better footing after a big first half by Aaron Rodgers and his receivers in the 34-27 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Especially when injuries to several key players left the defense short-handed against the Lions.
If Washington Redskins safety DeAngelo Hall's season-ending injury might lead others to suspect the playmaking defensive back's 13-year NFL career is over, he was adamant Monday that won't be the case. Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Monday that Hall needed surgery on his ACL. Hall, who turns 33 in November, was hurt in the first half of Washington's 29-27 victory at the NFC East rival New York Giants on Sunday.
