BOSTON (AP) -- Mayors and governors long have made friendly wagers over Super Bowls, usually putting up a crate of local delicacies against whatever goodies the opposing team's home is famous for.
The New York Jets found someone to lead their offense. New Orleans Saints wide receivers coach John Morton was hired by the Jets on Tuesday to be their offensive coordinator. Morton replaces Chan Gailey, who retired after the season following two years on coach Todd Bowles' staff.
Saints coach Sean Payton has hired former San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Nolan as New Orleans' new linebackers coach and former NFL long snapper Bradford Banta as special teams coordinator. The moves, announced Tuesday, come in the wake of Payton's decision earlier in January to let go of five assistants, including linebackers coach Joe Vitt and special teams coordinator Greg McMahon.
The final countdown to the biggest date on the US sporting calendar kicked off with a traditional media circus greeting the arrival of Super Bowl 51 opponents New England and Atlanta. Thousands of fans and several hundred journalists from across the globe on Monday thronged MinuteMaid Park, the home of the Houston Astros baseball team, as the Patriots and Falcons held court ahead of next Sunday's showpiece in Texas. The Super Bowl protagonists have almost become secondary to the spectacle in recent years, with the prime-time event becoming a byword for the surreal.
As we count down the days until Super Bowl LI, Yahoo Sports is taking a look at the best teams to not win it all. How do you even begin to rank the best NFL teams to not win the Super Bowl? A good place to start is win-loss records.
Los Angeles (AFP) - With a week to go before the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots clash in Super Bowl 51, NFL fans could whet their appetites on Sunday with the Pro Bowl exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
(The Sports Xchange) - In the lowest-scoring Pro Bowl since 1998, the AFC made two first-half goal-line stands and then held off the NFC's final drive to secure a 20-13 win at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens' Justin Tucker converted on 38 and 31-yard attempts to give the AFC a 20-7 advantage with 14:12 left in the game, before Detroit's Matt Prater hit from 42 and 46 to draw the NFC within a touchdown at the 4:29 mark. The NFC got the ball back at its 31-yard line with 2:39 remaining and crossed midfield at the two-minute warning on a pass from the Washington Redskins' Kirk Cousins to the New York Giants' Odell Beckham, eventually reaching the AFC 19.

One of the reasons the David Tyree catch has endured as one of the NFL’s greatest moments is that everything had to go exactly right for the New York Giants to make it happen. Including referee Mike Carey, who officiated Super Bowl XLII, changing his position during the play. Carey discussed the play with Yahoo Sports’ Tony Siragusa and a fascinating side note to history emerged.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Like most of the players at the Pro Bowl, Richie Incognito hears the criticism.
