Rams running back Todd Gurley told Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times that he is friends with New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham — “That’s my boy,” Gurley said — and he would love it if the Rams pulled off a trade for Beckham. “If we had him, man, it would be awesome,” Gurley said.

Three former college football players - two from Clemson and one from Duke - have been arrested and charged with armed robbery and possessing a weapon while committing a crime. The three are Jadar Johnson and C.J. Fuller of Clemson and Quaven Ferguson of Duke. Johnson, a defensive back, started on Clemson's 2016 national championship team and was signed by the New York Giants.

The New York Giants have asked for at least two first-round draft picks in return for Odell Beckham Jr. although the team has said that it is not shopping the wide receiver, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter adds that this does not mean that the Giants will be able to receive that or have come close to it. The Giants may not even trade Beckham.

NFL owners, meeting in Orlando, Fla., unanimously approved a simplified version of what constitutes a completion for the 2018 season. Al Riveron, the NFL's senior vice president of officiating, said last week the league's competition committee would recommend simplifying the language of the catch rule and that the proposed changes would be presented this week at the league meeting. --NFL owners also passed a "targeting" rule aimed at taking head contact out of the game.
