The 2018 NFL Draft was always likely to be defined by the quarterbacks, and so it proved as four went in the top 10, the Cleveland Browns making Baker Mayfield the first overall pick in a stunning move. Sam Darnold had been seen as the favourite to be

The New York Giants passed on an heir apparent to two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and took a running back that many think is the best to come out of college in decade. The Giants selected Penn State's Saquon Barkley with the second pick overall, a player many football experts consider the best running back to enter the NFL since Adrian Peterson came out of Oklahoma in 2007. Barkley, who entered the draft after his junior season, has all the ingredients to become a great.

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen slipped a bit, but the Arizona Cardinals jumped up to No. 10 to get him. Arizona traded with Oakland to get the 10th overall pick, moving up from No. 15. Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer retired after the season.

The Cleveland Browns used the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to select Oklahoma Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield. The more that 20,000 on hand inside of at AT&T Stadium, the first draft at an NFL stadium, erupted in cheers as commissioner Roger Goodell announced the Browns' decision. Cleveland threw a curveball with its No. 4 selection, taking Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward.

The New York Giants landed arguably the best overall player in the NFL Draft, deciding not to go with a quarterback as they selected running back Saquon Barkley with the second pick. Manning threw  for 3,468 yards with 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, struggling to throw downfield in a year that saw the Giants beset by injuries at receiver.

Whenever the New York Giants have to replace Eli Manning — and that could be sooner than they want to admit — they’ll have to look back at their decision to take a running back over all the quarterbacks available to them in the first round Thursday. Saquon Barkley is a great prospect, the best running back prospect in years, and he’s going to the Giants after they took him second overall in the 2018 NFL draft. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley went to the Giants with the second overall pick.

The Cleveland Brown selected quarterback Baker Mayfield of the University of Oklahoma as the No.1 choice in the 2018 NFL draft, ending the mystery on who might be the top choice in a field rich with quarterbacks. Mayfield, who walked on twice in college, first for Texas Tech and then after transferring to Oklahoma, became the Heisman Trophy winner last year as the top player in college.

The New York Giants are looking to bounce back from a miserable 2017 season, in which injuries and inconsistency played a part in a 3–13. After the season, the Giants cleaned house, firing their coach and general manager. With new coach Pat Shurmur in place, the Giants hope to improve on a stagnant running game plus fill some holes on a porous defense.
