Last week, I took half an hour to talk with Ed Valentine of Big View Blue about the myriad of Alabama football players that may or may not be available for the Giants to pick at #11. A year ago, the New York Giants selected Alabama safety Xavier McKinney on Round 2 of the NFL draft. This time around, there are a number of Crimson Tide players who are possible Giants selections over the first two days of the 2021 NFL Draft.

NFL free agency: Is WR Corey Davis a logical target for the Giants?

Jimmy: I think the chances he hits the market are pretty good. The Titans aren’t going to tag him, and it just feels like one of those situations where another team is going to value him more than the Titans do. I don’t think there is necessarily any bad blood between Davis and the team, but he is probably looking for a fresh start in a place where he doesn’t have to live up to being the 5th overall pick - as you mention below.

There is little doubt the Giants planned on releasing Nate Solder this offseason, likely with the post-June 1 designation to spread the $10.5 million dead cap hit over two years. With the former Patriot's stated intent to return, now the question arises of what the Giants should do with him. The Giants can certainly consider keeping him around.

The Giants invested three draft picks in offensive linemen last year to help quarterback Daniel Jones, though only one looks like a surefire long-term starter right now. That is fourth overall pick Andrew Thomas, who started at left tackle last year, though even he struggled for much of his rookie season. NFL Draft 2021: Could Giants’ Dave Gettleman pick offensive lineman in Round 1 again, after investing in Andrew Thomas?

Last year, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman attempted to draft his left tackle of the future, by picking Andrew Thomas fourth overall. After Thomas’ rocky rookie season, it remains unclear if he’ll actually become the Giants’ long-term left tackle solution. Gettleman isn’t going to draft Thomas’ replacement in 2021, of course.

Giants’ Dalvin Tomlinson considered a top D-line free agent
Posted by Giants Wire under UncategorizedComments Off on Giants’ Dalvin Tomlinson considered a top D-line free agent
A year ago, the New York Giants were anchored by their impressive defensive line. However, as the new league year looms, the team runs the risk of losing not just one, but potentially two of their D-line stalwarts in Leonard Williams and Dalvin Tomlinson. The Giants and Williams are said to be far apart in their contract negotiations, while very little has been reported or rumored about negotiations with Tomlinson.

Mike Tannenbaum: Daniel Jones ‘clearly ahead’ of Sam Darnold
Posted by Giants Wire under UncategorizedComments Off on Mike Tannenbaum: Daniel Jones ‘clearly ahead’ of Sam Darnold
When the New York Giants passed on quarterback Sam Darnold in the 2018 NFL Draft, they were the subject of much criticism. When they then selected quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in 2019, that criticism intensified. How could general manager Dave Gettleman have gotten it so wrong?
