Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid, who was out of the National Football League until this week, has resumed his kneeling protest during the national anthem. Reid, who was the first person to join Colin Kaepernick in the kneeling protests while both were with the San Francisco 49ers, had not spoken about what he would do during the song’s playing. Reid has a collusion case against the NFL, claiming he was essentially blackballed because of his activism.

As the national anthem began playing before the Panthers’ game against the New York Giants, Reid dropped to his right knee, continuing the silent protest he began while a member of the San Francisco 49ers with Colin Kaepernick.

Bears general manager Phil Emery has now added six unrestricted free agents in the first 48 hours of free agency, with Young and Hixon following defensive end Lamarr Houston (Raiders), safety Ryan Mundy (Giants) and linebacker Jordan Senn (Panthers) on Tuesday and safety M.D. Jennings (Packers) on Wednesday.
